Built in 1889 as the ORIZABA, this 336-foot, 3,500-ton steamer arrived on the West Coast in the early 1900s. Under the ownership of the Alaska Steamship Company, the Northwestern maintained its stature as a primary supply and passenger steamer on the Alaska Route.
